How Medical Nutrition Therapy Works
A Personalized Path ForwardMedical Nutrition Therapy at Cullman Diabetes Center is a one-on-one service provided by our registered dietitian, Debbie Morrison, RDN, LDN. With a referral from your physician, you’ll meet to review your current eating habits, discuss lab results and medications, and set customized goals that align with your health needs.
Unlike general nutrition advice, MNT is structured, evidence-based, and tailored to the medical condition you’re managing. Your sessions may include meal planning, label reading, strategies for food choices when eating out, and tips for overcoming challenges like appetite changes or food intolerances.
MNT plays an important role in Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) programs. It’s also a standalone therapy for people managing chronic conditions related to diabetes or kidney disease.
